Dear Friend of the Children,
Christmas is a time of reflection. And as I reflect upon the year that is past, I am grateful for God’s providential leading of ICC’s ministry for orphan and vulnerable children. I am also aware of the impossibility of this mission if it weren’t for the prayers and support of ICC’s faithful family members like you. God’s work through you is saving and transforming the lives of orphan and vulnerable children.
During this season of Christmas, when we celebrate and recognize the birth of our Savior, Jesus, it’s fitting to recognize and celebrate your caring concern for the little ones that are especially near and dear to Jesus Himself. They are the “least of these” that He spoke about. Thank you for answering His call to care for them!
As in other years, 2024 has seen the ICC family experiencing the joy of birthday celebrations and graduations. You make these milestone events possible through your consistent support.
Some of the most significant events were the times a suffering child arrived at one of our children’s villages. He or she is so frightened and in need of a gentle hug, a warm bath, a nutritious meal, clothes and a bed to call their very own. These newly arrived children need the welcoming environment of an ICC family that you help to provide!
A good example of this is 5-year-old Lucinda who joined the Las Palmas family in the Dominican Republic earlier this year. As is often the case, before arriving at Las Palmas, Lucinda was in a vulnerable situation which required the intervention of government officials. Her story is like so many others. And sadly, there are no good stories as to why a child must find refuge within an ICC family.
However, there are good stories, even great and inspiring stories, of children who rise above their past and who are transformed within the loving environment of an ICC family!
These children learn what it means to be a part of a loving family. They learn about God and His special plan for their lives. They move forward to live lives of purpose and service.
And now for little Lucinda, she also has that opportunity.
But it won’t happen unless caring individuals like you help to make it possible for her journey to continue.
In closing, I want to let you know that our project directors are doing what they can to keep costs down. These are tough economic times. The cost of caring for the children continues to rise. And the children have nowhere else to turn for their care except to ICC family members like you.
This Christmas, as we focus on Jesus and His mission to the world, I hope and pray that you will remember His mission to the “least of these” – and particularly the orphan children within the ICC family.
Thank you for what you have done for them. Thank you for what you will continue to do for them. And may you experience God’s richest blessings this Christmas.
On behalf of the children,
Rick Fleck
