This is a Children's Country Village located
on the grounds of the Thailand Adventist Educational
Center, a secondary school serving the country of Thailand.
The orphan center was established in 1992 and is named
after an Australian girl who was killed in an accident
during the time the Vision for Life group from Australia
was raising funds for elementary school facilities to
care for the ICC orphans in Thailand. Three homes were
completed and 30 children were transferred from dormitory
type facilities in October, 1996. A fourth home was
constructed in 1997. Other homes will be built at the
Center in the future.
In
early 1996 word reached ICC through Merilyn Beveridge
that a tribal group in Thailand had 40 orphans that
needed to be cared for. Informataion also came that
these children were subject to raiders from the tourist
cities of Thailand, who were kidnapping the children
for the sex trade there. To protect the children, the
Singapore chapter raised $5,000 to build simple homes
for them.
