Burma, Asia

Orphan Situation - Thousands of orphans due mainly to poverty, disease and civil strife.

ICC is challenged to help - In early 1997 a feasibility study was undertaken and a place chosen in the delta region to develop a Children’s country home campus. In late 1997 Paul Edgren organized a giant auction in Redding, California. Profits from this auction provided the funds for the first two homes. ICC is developing a Children’s Country Home Village on an acreage in the delta region, south west of the capital, Yangoon.

3rd May, 2008 - CYCLONE NARGIS HAS CAUSED MUCH DESTRUCTION IN AND AROUND THE LOCAL AREA OF OUR CHILDREN@S VILLAGES. WITH AN ESTIMATED 25,000 DEAD AND 1 MILLION HOMELES. BURMA NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW!

Development for Self Sufficiency - Educational and vocational training is available to all children to enable orphans to become self sufficient and contributing citizens. Development of small industries assist with operational costs and also provide vocational training. Currently they have a small dairy and a soya bean product industry The agricultural program provides food, agricultural training and operational costs for the center.

Child Profile, Abraham - Abraham’s father died soon after his birth and his mother remarried. The stepfather was irresponsible and did not care for the family. His mother worked hard to try to provide for the family but became very ill. She died during childbirth and the step father abandoned the children and disappeared leaving Abraham without anyone to care for him. He and his older siblings are now being cared for by loving house parents.

How You Can Help - There are a number of ways in which you can help! Please take the time to see how by visiting our volunteer section, click here to make a donation or sponsor a child.
