Orphan
Situation - Thousands of orphans as a result
of poverty, death and disease.
ICC is challenged to help - In 1996
Mrs Lilly Kaligithi left her home in USA and commenced
an orphan home in Narsapur, India, in her remodeled,
two bedroom, child hood home. The home was soon full
to overflowing with 26 children and she contacted ICC
for help. In 1997 her DEWS Sweet Home became a part
of the ICC family. The Wilkensen family from USA, visit
the home and were so impressed with Lilly’s work that
they have funded the purchase of adjoining land and
the construction of five cottage homes where there are
now over 60 children receiving care.
ICC Children’s Country Village - ICC’s Children’s
Country Home Village is on a small piece of land in
Narsapur near the east coast about half way between
Chennai and Calcutta. Cottage home care is provided,
where each child is placed with loving Christian house
parents and 10 – 12 other orphans, much like a real
family. Here they can find love and care and a sense
of self worth.

Profile, Preethi - Preethi was born to
a poor family who already had three daughters and
did not want another daughter. She was abandoned
and left at a hospital. She lived at the hospital
until she was two years old as the staff loved her
and hoped that her family would come to claim her.
When this did not happen and she grew older hospital
staff brought her to the ICC DEWS Sweet Homes. She
had never played on a floor before nor had she been
outside. She is so happy to receive lots of love
and to also be able to have open space to play with
other little friends. |
